FAQs

How does it register trigger pull?

Virtual-Shot uses both the phones sensors and microphone to detect the dry fire sound of real guns, air guns, airsoft and gel blasters.  The sound detection algorithm will detect pretty much anything that makes a click sound when dry firing.

Can Virtual-Shot be used on any weapon?

Virtual-Shot is a dry fire training system, this means that you can use Virtual-Shot on any weapon that you can dry fire on (rifles, pistols, air rifles, airsoft rifles, gel blasters... pretty much anything that can be dry fired.

Will I have to continually rack or cycle the bolt of my weapon

Virtual-Shot is a dry fire training system.  So on real firearms unless you have a double action trigger or are using a dry fire system that resets the trigger yes you will need to reset your trigger. On airsoft, gel blasters and other gas blow back systems you will be able to use the system without doing this.

Does Virtual-Shot work for left handed firers?

Yes, you can adjust your dominant hand preference in the game settings.

How does Virtual-Shot update its software?

All software changes will update on your phone through the app stores. This means that as the sim is improved and expanded you will get easy access to more and more content.

Will it work on my phone?

The tracking software is quite processor heavy so you will need a modern smartphone manufactured from 2019 onward.  For iPhones you will need an iPhone6s or later. For Android the best way to check is to visit the Google Play store link here.  If you can download the app your phone is compatible. The Phone mount will hold phones with a width no narrower than 61mm and no wider than 77mm so you might have to remove bulky phone cases.

Will Dry firing damage my rifle?

It is a common misconception that dry firing damages firing pins. We have used dry firing as a training technique for decades on both rifles and pistols and never had an issue with firing pin damage. On centerfire rifles, when no cartridge is present the tip of the firing pin strikes nothing in the breech, instead it is stopped by the bolt itself. The force of the firing pin being stopped by the bolt on center fire rifles is negligible. On a rim fire rifle however, the firing pin will hit the hard steel of the breechface and if done excessively will cause damage to the pin. It is for this reason that we recommend using snap caps if you want to dry fire your rim fire, they will work perfectly well with Virtual-Shot too.

Very nice item to practice shoot.

I use it on my GBB AIRSOFT M4. I shoot with a mag without bullets, but filled with gas. Also a clip to prevent the bolt staying back. Only thing is that the phone is very (too) close to your left eye. So shooting with 2 eyes is not possible.

All in all very nice to practice. 5 stars well deserved.

Virtual-Shot First Impressions

[Context: I purchased the Pistol Mount for use with SIRT 110 training gun.]

The intent behind my firearms practice has always been to preserve human life—to that end, I’ve utilized inert and airsoft training tools since well before even owning and carrying a defensive firearm daily.

Dry fire has been the vast majority of my practice, and as something I do every day, I am always looking for anything that will assist in my own advancement, as well as introducing and instructing others in safe, effective firearms use.

After months of deliberation and waiting on new reviews (none showing my intended use, even now,) I finally decided I’d make the investment and see if the Virtual-Shot tool/game was worth it.

It is my protocol to wait and use something for a month before making a full review of a product, so I need more time before I give all the stars or put out a video with all of my thoughts and feedback, but I’ll say this is a *very* fun and challenging simulator with loads of potential.

While I have struggled with shots from the SIRT registering correctly, it nonetheless works well enough in a perfectly quiet environment to improve scores in mini games, work speed in the gallery, and how about the workout? There really is something to be said for holding the added weight of phone on training gun held up and out at length, and I consider it a hidden benefit to this system. (Phone in photo is smaller/lighter than actual one I am using, which was used to capture the image.)

After I’ve used it consistently for no less than a month, I intend to share my already many positive thoughts and some suggestions/wishes for Virtual-Shot, but I’ll end with this: If you’re the type to dry fire every day or often and would love yet one more unique way to mix it up, I can already recommend trying Virtual-Shot.

Even getting it as “just a game” would probably be pretty awesome for most.

I look forward to using and sharing it more!

The Virtual Shot - Rifle mount is a wonderful equipment. Even to be used in house, when you are sure there is no ammunition in the rifle or in the carriage.

It is very accurate and easy to use.

I have used it on several rifles and it attaches in a single moment.

This is unbelievable, I'm so proud that this was created by Aussie Veterans. It's filled with options, the detail, and terminology- on point. The airsoft/gel blaster situation here in Aus is limited, but with Virtual shot the possibilities are endless. Flu19 lockin friendly too get amongst it in the comfort of your own home. Not paying for ammunition- another bonus. You can improve your marksmanship skills, or, have an apocalyptic zombie spray and pray. Well done lads! This is so well put together! I look forward to enjoying your creations long into the future xx
